The Build Technician will be responsible for the assembly, testing, and maintenance of aerospace components and systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, experience with precision assembly, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Component Assembly: Assemble and integrate various spacecraft and satellite components, including mechanical, electrical, and optical systems, according to technical drawings and specifications.
Integration: Perform integration of subsystems and components, ensuring alignment and compatibility. Verify that all connections and interfaces are properly configured.
Testing: Conduct preliminary testing and inspections of assembled components to ensure they meet performance and quality standards. Identify and address any issues or discrepancies.
Documentation: Maintain detailed records of assembly procedures, components used, and test results. Ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on assembly tools and equipment. Ensure that all tools are in good working condition.
Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and other technical staff to support the assembly process and address any technical challenges. Provide feedback on assembly processes and suggest improvements.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification or an Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is a plus.
Experience: 2+ years of experience in a technician or assembly role, preferably in a high-tech or aerospace environment.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments. Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical assembly techniques.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in following assembly instructions and technical specifications.
Problem-Solving: Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues during the assembly process.
Communication: Basic verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in a build or assembly role, with experience in aerospace or high-tech industries preferred.
Advanced Skills: Expertise in advanced assembly and integration techniques, including experience with complex or high-precision systems.
Certifications: Relevant technical certifications (e.g., IPC Certification, Six Sigma) are a plus.
Industry Experience: Extensive experience in aerospace or space technology sectors, particularly with spacecraft or satellite systems.
Innovation: Demonstrated ability to contribute to process improvements and enhance assembly techniques.
