SSSD has an opening for a Reliability Principal Systems Engineer/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.
This requisition can be filled as a level 3 Principal Systems Engineer or a level 4 Sr. Principal Systems Engineer. Additionally, this position is contingent upon capturing program award, acquiring customer funding, and obtaining necessary clearances prior to start date.
Job Duties:
-Perform various reliability related tasks including: leading reliability support to the design team through the performance of design tradeoffs, reliability failure rate/MTBF predictions, de-rating analysis, allocation of reliability requirements, performing failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) and identify fault modes and responses, identify critical items and document controls, and support to design reviews.
-Candidate should have knowledge of functional block diagrams, creating reliability block diagrams, and ability to interpret schematics
-Ability to develop technical solutions to potential reliability and availability problems.
-Adapt probability and statistical tools to solve problems involving non-standard configurations and definitions of system success.
-Utilize industry tools to conduct Reliability analysis.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Systems Engineer:
-Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline and 5+ years of engineering experience OR
-Master’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline and 3+ years of engineering experience OR
-PhD in a STEM in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline and 1+ years of engineering experience
-Ability to perform various reliability engineering related tasks, such as reliability failure rate/MTBF predictions and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for identifying fault modes and responses
-Familiarity with modeling and simulations and software analysis tools used in Reliability analysis
-Familiarity with functional block diagrams, reliability block diagrams, and ability to interpret schematics
–Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Govt. DoD Secret Clearance prior to start date.
Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Systems Engineer:
-Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline and 8+ years of engineering experience OR
-Master’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline and 6+ years of engineering experience OR
-PhD in a STEM in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline and 4+ years of engineering experience
-Ability to perform various reliability engineering related tasks, such as reliability failure rate/MTBF predictions and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for identifying fault modes and responses
-Familiarity with modeling and simulations and software analysis tools used in Reliability analysis
-Familiarity with functional block diagrams, reliability block diagrams, and ability to interpret schematics
–Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Govt. DoD Secret Clearance prior to start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Understanding of technical principles, theories, subsystem design, and knowledge of general satellite design
-Combining hands-on Reliability Analysis and modeling skills for satellite, directed energy hardware and systems
-PM&P and Electronics Design experience or exposure
-Advanced user in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
–Active US Govt. DoD Top Secret clearance and/or active SCI access at time of application

Salary Range: $107,300.00 – $160,900.00Salary Range 2: $133,000.00 – $199,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
