You will use your Systems Engineering Knowledge and System Safety Expertise to analyze hardware and software, establish and maintain system safety requirements in support of mission success. You will support the Systems Engineering team throughout the lifecycle of the system. You will support detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies, and support the translation of customer requirements into hardware and software requirements. You will support Systems Engineering during System Integration and will support verification/validation of system requirements. As our System Safety Engineer, your responsibilities will also include the following tasks:
• Develop and/or update Preliminary Hazard List
(PHL), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Functional
Hazard Analyses (FHAs), System Hazard Analyses
(SHA), and Safety Assessment Reports (SAR)
• Prepare presentations and participate in Design
Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, Technical
Interchange Meetings, and various working groups
and safety review meetings
• Develop and/or update System
Safety documents to support Customer, Range
Safety, and contractual requirements
• Review and provide input to test procedures for
adherence to System Safety requirements
• Coordinate with test range safety teams and writing
range safety reports to support testing
• Assist in the development and maintenance of a
Hazard Tracking System (HTS) used to document
real and potential hazards, their assessments, and
their respective mitigation’s.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree from an accredited college in an engineering or related technical discipline
• Experience using current system safety standards and guidance in one of the following: MIL-STD-882E, DO-178C, AFSPCMAN 91-710, NASA System Safety Handbook, JSSSEH, and/or other military/commercial system safety standards
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of System Safety design and operations safety principles to include experience with one or all of the following: hazard identification, systems analysis, risk mitigation, safety requirements management, and associated deliverable documentation.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to
engage and interact in group meeting/working
environments with team members, development
organizations and customers.
• Active Secret Clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret: US Citizenship required
Desired Skills:
• Existing TS Clearance
• Experience tailoring 91-710 v3
• Software system safety experience
• Experience participating in DoD System Safety Working Groups
• Familiarity with MBSE
• Familiarity with DOORs
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4×10 hour day, 3 days off per week
