Our multidisciplinary foundry team enables activities from development to sustainment process engineering. ATL is responsible for all aspects of semiconductor technology including design, mask making, wafer fabrication, testing, and assembly.
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a well-qualified Principal Systems Administrator for the Engineering and Sciences Organization. The position is located at the Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) in Linthicum, MD where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal production and emerging programs. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in Red Hat System administration and Windows system administration, and the ability/desire to automate any admin tasks using Puppet or Nagios tools.
This is a full-time 5th shift position, covering overnight shifts Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
What You’ll Get To Do:
Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Perform as a Windows/Linux System Administrator for the ATL Foundry infrastructure.
Manage and maintain security patches for RHEL 8.x and Windows VMs.
Develop and document technical procedures.
Read, modify, and create shell script and scripts in various other languages.
Learn new technologies on own and work effectively independently, while still coordinating actions as required.
Use Nagios XI to monitor application performance and uptime.
Implement Puppet modules.
Able to partition disks, create logical volumes, create file systems, and mount file systems in Linux environments.
Produce system performance metrics for ATL infrastructure.
Take ownership of all ATL software applications (install, start-up, stop, upgrade, etc.).
Perform monthly security patches on Windows and RHEL operating systems.
Be on site at ATL Foundry as needed in support of troubleshooting, testing, and/or deployment activities of local IT assets.
Lead actions with peer systems administrators, network engineer, security teams, and software and hardware engineers.
Install and configure COTS software (FactoryWorks, APF, SPACE, etc.)
Collaborate as needed with software vendors to remedy.
Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.
Provide backup and recovery services; manage file systems and disk space; manage virus protection on a routine basis.
Create and maintain user and computer accounts and modify file permissions and security access lists.
Test new releases of products to ensure compatibility and minimize user impact.
Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed.
Make recommendations to purchase hardware, software, system components.
Interact, meet, discuss, and troubleshoot issues with vendors; evaluate vendor products, services, and suggestions.
Adhere to strict Information Systems security guidelines in all cases.
Will be expected to document all tasks in JIRA.
Work after hours and weekends as needed.
Will be expected to work on help desk support team to assist user with application related issues.
Provide access to a user of internal drive and guide them to connect with different teams to resolve technical and application related issues.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Systems Administrator:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5 years of experience; Master’s degree in a related field and 3 years of experience; or PhD. in related field with 0+ years of experience
Experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux OS
Experience supporting application in a production environment.
Experience with Help Desk Support team.
U.S. Citizenship required.
The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance is required.
Preferred Qualifications for Principal Systems Administrator:
Advanced scripting skills.
Red Hat 8.x and/or Windows System Administration certification(s)
Solid understanding of system back up and restoration.
Experience with Puppet or Ansible.
Experience with Nagios.
Experience with Help Desk Support team.
Advanced understanding of Linux/Windows configuration and commands.
Understanding of Agile framework.

Salary Range: $93,000.00 – $139,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
