The Role
The Director of Signal Processing and Communications Engineering position is a new and exciting leadership position that is intended to advance the state of AMERGINT’s Signal Processing and Communications technology. At AMERGINT we leverage cutting edge FPGA, ASIC and component technology in the digitization and conditioning of RF signals in satellite communications, radar, and signal monitoring applications. In this role you will create and manage technology roadmaps based on future business opportunities for RF products and projects and manage the design and implementation of modems and related algorithms, in a software-defined radio environment. You will define budgets and manage IR&D schedules for bringing these new capabilities to life. In addition you will hire, train, and manage an experienced engineering team to help realize the future.
Responsibilities:
Participates with other leaders to establish objectives and define strategies for the business.
Creates technical strategies and roadmaps to build solutions for future opportunities.
Works with engineering and business leadership to prioritize development efforts to drive business revenue.
Interacts with executives and major customers on project execution, product performance, business development
Lead and contribute to technical proposal efforts on bid opportunities.
Participate as needed in all phases of engineering design and communications system development with emphasis on the planning, analysis, building, testing, integration, documentation and presentation phases of product and solutions development.
Requirements:
8-10 years RF experience with a BS in Engineering or similar. Masters preferred.
Complex experience with Software Defined Radios, Digital Communications, Digital Filtering, and algorithm design. Experience in RF spectrum engineering, RF system design, development, and implementation for government, military and commercial communications platforms
Familiar with digital signal processing (DSP) for things such as filter design and link-level simulation.
Implementation experience performing digital signal processing in embedded systems using VHDL or Verilog on FPGA platforms.
Knowledge of, and experience of HW/SW/System development lifecycle experience including: architecture specification, detailed design, validation and field testing
Significant project management experience and excellent communication/presentation skills.
Signal processing experience including detailed knowledge of payload, TT&C, commercial satellite communications and tactical waveform applications.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to interface directly with customers
Ability to successfully manage the development of new products and platforms.
