Systems Engineer full_time

This position is for a Systems Engineer in either Aurora, CO or King of Prussia, PA. You will be working closely with multidisciplinary team of researchers and software developers to investigate the interaction of orbital debris with the surrounding space environment and help drive the state of the art to detect, track, and characterize lethal non-trackable orbital space debris. In addition to growing your skills as a Systems Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in other disciplines at Stratagem that offer you opportunities to develop new skills in areas across the tech industry.

Salary Information

The annual salary range for this role is $120,000 to $180,000; however, Stratagem considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.

Requirements

Our ideal candidate is a System Engineer who is mission focused, experience with AGILE programs, and an excellent communicator. This candidate will be joining an R&D team comprised of research scientists, AI/ML engineers, and software developers and stepping into a liaison role for our team interfacing with our academic and industry partners. This candidate will help identify and track software/data dependencies and shape the architecture and requirements of a digital twin.

As a System Engineer, your responsibilities include:

• Producing system architecture and technical views that help clarify and guide software and process integration for the development teams
• Provide technical input and requirement transparency across development teams.
• Decomposing, allocating, and tracking system requirements and collaborating with multi-disciplined, distributed teams to generate efficient and scalable solutions
• Identifying and tracking inter- and intra-team dependencies across the contract
• Participating in the development and execution of program milestones events such as Customer meetings, Program Increments, and cross-company AGILE meetings
• Helping track program milestones and deliverables to ensure we are on track at meeting the required metrics and capabilities
• Helping generate program deliverables in the form of software deliveries, reports documenting our key findings, generated/curated datasets, and customer presentations

Required Skills

• BS degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or relevant fields
• 8+ years of experience working as a govt program-focused systems engineer
• Effective cross-organizational communicator with the ability to work well in a small team, fast paced environment
• Working knowledge of Scrum and Agile Software Development Methodology
• Ability to identify, map, and track dependencies between Features/Stories in an Agile environment
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and engage with a distributed virtual team

Desired Skills (bonus points) 

• Experience as a Systems Engineer on programs and projects related to Astrodynamics / Space Domain Awareness
• Experience with IARPA-programs
• Experience with any of the following: Kalman Filters, Orbit Determination, Detection, Probabilistic models
• Experience in DevSecOps, application deployment, and containerization
• Experience serving in any of the following AGILE roles: Scrummaster, Product Owner, Release Train Engineer, etc.
• Experience with GitLab for software development efforts, issue tracking, and/or automated testing
• Experience with helping architect, design, document, and implement microservice orientated architectures employing containerization and software-defined interfaces
• Familiarity with using AWS cloud computing resources such as EC2, S3, Lambda, etc.
• Familiarity with Cloud Architectures and deployment requirements for US DoD
• An Active TS/SCI Clearance with SSBI
