Maxar is currently seeking an Analytic Engineer to join our team. This role will be performed in our Maxar facility located in Herndon, Virginia and the customer site in Springfield, VA
As a Maxar team member, you will have the opportunity to closely support our mission partners, and your work will have a direct impact on mission imperatives. In this role, you will work closely with software developers, other data SMEs, as well our infrastructure and cybersecurity teams leveraging open-source tools to create and maintain a diverse range of applications.
What You’ll Be Doing:

Responsible for performing and developing data evaluation and assessment efforts.

Shaping data engineering approaches for analytic tradecraft improvements with our applications.

Identifying and documenting gaps within our data corpus and analytical capabilities.

Working hand-in-hand with software developers to field requirements and provide feedback as changes are implemented into an application.

Working with end-users to provide SME support for various data or application questions and requests.

We are a multi-faceted software development and systems administration team working to build and maintain software applications backed by a self-managed cloud infrastructure with a true big-data footprint (over 12 petabytes).

Prototyping and frequent, iterative feedback are core to our delivery approach, anchored by a need to work quickly in support of our missions.
Minimum Requirements:
-
Must have a current/active TS/SCI and be willing and able to obtain a CI polygraph.

Experience formulating a repeatable process for data evaluations and communicating findings to government officials.

In-depth knowledge of technical data types based on previous research and work with data sets of interest. Data types of interest include Technical Telemetry Data and other forms of telecommunication protocol data types, including cellular and wi-fi.

At least 5 years of experience as a data analyst, data scientist or similar.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Must be a self-starter with excellent time-management skills and the ability to independently manage multiple concurrent tasks.

Must be experienced working in fast-paced environments.

Experience working with Software Engineers to provide feedback and validate the technical implementation for custom applications.

Experience working with a scripting language like Python, SQL, Spark, PySpark or similar.

Must be able to work on-site in Hendon, VA, with the ability to work in Springfield, VA as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Comfortable with briefing government leadership.

Experience conducting Activity-Based Intelligence or Pattern of Life analysis.

Experience applying, improving, and documenting innovative analytic methodologies and ensuring they remain up to date with the latest information.

Experience in a customer facing role.

Familiarity with Gitlab.

Experience working with Jupyter Notebooks or Zepplin.
-
Experience working with other intel analysts and/or special operations customers.

In support of pay transparency at Maxar, we disclose salary ranges on all of our U.S. job postings. We use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range. To accommodate all locations, we have listed the bottom to the top of the possible range, and will share the target range for a specific location during the recruiting discussion. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidates unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:
$94,000.00 – $200,000.00 annually.
