Ursa Major was founded to address a critical shortfall in the U.S. industrial base and bring a new model to aerospace and defense systems: we design and manufacture the world’s leading propulsion systems for space, hypersonic applications, and missile systems.
Our products and technologies require an extraordinary team – a team that will mold tomorrow’s technologies while deploying today’s best. We are an intrinsically motivated team that has a passion for solving problems and empowering each other every day to develop our skills, knowing that there is always room for growth.
As Ursa Major expands into the realm of solid propulsion, we’re assembling the most innovative and nimble team in order to disrupt the status quo. We’re applying the latest technologies to an outdated business model that improves cost, lead-time, and flexibility without impacting reliability.
Ursa Major Technologies is seeking a talented and driven Capital Project Manager to join our dynamic team. The Capital Project Manager will be instrumental in the planning, coordination, and execution of critical infrastructure projects, supporting the growth and expansion of our advanced rocket propulsion facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning and Management: Collaborate with program managers and leadership to develop capital project plans related to facility expansion, equipment installation, and infrastructure upgrades. Create detailed schedules and estimates that adhere to project timelines and budgets.
2. Construction Oversight: Provide onsite supervision and oversight during the construction phase of projects. Monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with design specifications, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
3. Design and Engineering: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop engineering designs, specifications, and layouts for new construction and renovation projects. Ensure that designs meet regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company objectives.
4. Procurement and Vendor Management: Manage procurement activities in conjunction with Ursa Supply Chain, including sourcing materials, equipment, and services from vendors and contractors. Evaluate bids, negotiate contracts, and oversee vendor performance to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
5. Budget Control: Monitor project expenditures, track variances, and implement corrective actions as necessary to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints. Work closely with program managers and leadership to advise on budgetary forecasts and risks.
6. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, zoning regulations, environmental permits, and other legal requirements governing construction and facility operations.
7. Stakeholder Communication: Maintain open and transparent communication with project stakeholders, including internal teams, contractors, regulatory agencies, and senior management. Provide regular updates on project status, milestones, and risks.
8. Quality Assurance/Quality Control: Implement rigorous quality assurance and quality control processes to ensure that construction work meets the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
– 3-5 years of experience in capital project management, preferably in the aerospace or manufacturing industry.
