NSF’s NOIRLab is the preeminent US national center for ground-based, nighttime optical and infrared astronomy. NOIRLab is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) which operates as a matrix organization, providing services across a range of programs: Gemini, Rubin, MSO (CTIO and KPNO), and CSDC; with facilities in three geographic locations: Arizona, Chile and Hawai’i. The mission of NOIRLab is to enable breakthrough discoveries in astrophysics by developing and operating state-of-the-art ground-based observatories and providing data products and services for a diverse and inclusive community.
Applications are invited for a 3 months internship focused on the study of potential high redshift lensed quasars with HST and JWST data at the Hawai’i operations center of the International Gemini Observatory/NSF NOIRLab. The successful candidate will collaborate with Dr. Ema Farina and Dr. Anniek Gloudemans to confirm/refuse the lensing nature of the objects using data from HST, JWST, and Gemini. They will also join Gemini North’s vibrant extragalactic research community (https://www.gemini.edu/about/contact-us/gemini-research-staff).
Responsibilities include source modelling in imaging data, analysis of the spectral properties, and writing science publications.

Salary Range: $25/hr. The final salary will depend on skills, qualifications, and experience.
