Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Early Career for the Payload Launch Site Support Services (PLSSS) Program in Space. In this role, you will perform a variety of Mechanical Engineering design, analysis and operational tasks. The successful candidate will have the ability to apply practical Mechanical Engineering operations and/or maintenance principles within an industrial or commercial environment and possess practical and basic Mechanical/Structural Engineering experience or classroom exposure. Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
The Payload Launch Site Support Services (PLSSS) Program, within LM Space, provides launch processing support functions for our government customer. Key elements of the program scope include spacecraft launch preparations, spacecraft transportation operations, and processing facilities O&M. The primary operating location is Vandenberg AFB, CA, with support of other locations also required.
Basic Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace, Engineering, Physics or a related discipline from an accredited college.
· Ability to apply practical Mechanical Engineering operations and/or maintenance principles within an industrial or commercial environment or related
· Ability to work in a launch site environment, with the ability to climb stairs and evacuate the launch complex wearing breathing apparatus, if required
· Willing and able to support periodic travel, overtime, and alternate shifts, if required
· Ability to obtain a TS/SCI w/ Poly security clearance
· Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Desired Skills:
· Possess practical and basic Mechanical/Structural Engineering experience
· Experience in a design, build, test environment
· Familiar with CREO Parametric
· Experience in presenting technical information with leadership, teammates, suppliers, vendors, and government customers
· Able to adjust and respond to dynamic working environment
· Familiar with mechanical structural calculations for aerospace equipment using classical techniques and FEA results
· Basic understanding in data acquisition and analysis of static, vibration and shock sensors including analysis in the time and frequency domain
· Test planning, test execution, technical test documentation experience

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: Standard Monday to Friday 40 hour work week
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Washington or Washington DC is $55,300 – $106,000 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate:
