Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Network Engineer to join our team supporting our RUSHMORE program. This position would be based in the Aurora, Colorado area at Buckley AFB.
This role is to assist in the startup and maintenance of new network business just acquired by the program. The candidate would be required to learn the new architecture and take direction from the SR network engineer already on staff.
Job responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
Designs and plans network communications systems.
Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
Conducts testing of network design.
Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Troubleshooting network architecture to include network interfaces and firewalls and making recommendations for system findings and enhancements.
Gain a detailed understanding of systems, flows, CONOPs and advanced concepts; innovate and provide strategic direction.
Perform updates, patching, and baseline changes to adhere to Information Security requirements, policies, and standards.
This position requires being onsite and does not support remote or hybrid work.
This requisition may be filled at either a level 2 or a level 3, depending on the candidate’s experience as laid out in the basic qualifications detailed below as well as the interview assessment.
Basic Qualifications
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance with an adjudicated Polygraph at time of application
Minimum years of experience needed to be considered:
Level 2:
2 Years of relevant experience with a completed bachelor’s degree
0 Years of relevant experience with a completed master’s degree
4 Years of relevant experience with a completed associate’s degree
6 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a completed degree (High School diploma or equivalent is required)
Level 3:
5 Years of relevant experience with a completed bachelor’s degree
3 Years of relevant experience with a completed master’s degree
0 Years of relevant experience with a completed PhD
7 Years of relevant experience with a completed associate’s degree
9 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a completed degree (High School diploma or equivalent is required)
Must have the above minimum experience with:
Demonstrable real-world experience in network configuration and management of critical network environments
Experience in network devices such as Cisco ASAs, Routers, and Switches
Experience with Cisco IOS
Experience and/or knowledge of network protocols, such as TCP/IP and UDP
Ability to support rotational 24×7 on-call support
Preferred Qualifications
STEM degree
DoD 8570 IAM/IAT certification requirements; Security+ or CISSP, or have the ability to obtain within three months of start date
Ability to work in a structured configuration-controlled environment, primarily focused on the support and maintenance of real-time systems on an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contract
Strong analytical skills and ability to evaluate platform-level problems and provide solutions for immediate restoration of service.
Experience with 24×7 operational systems
Experience with NX OS, VMware, ACI/APIC
Experience with UDP multicast
Experience with IPSec, multilayer switching, VLANs, and Virtual environments (ESXi)
Interface with external services for DNS, NTP, and others
Experience formalizing, developing, and writing requirements, plans, and procedures based on customer, briefings, interactions, and statements of work
Experience developing system-level designs, high-level control and data interfaces
Experience designing and setting up networks and data centers
Has a clear understanding of the OSI model
Knowledgeable in Static/Dynamic IP environments, LAN/WAN interfaces, Routed and routing protocols, subnetting, remote management and monitoring using SNMPv3 and SSH in both large and small-scale networks

Salary Range: $75,700.00 – $113,500.00Salary Range 2: $93,000.00 – $139,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
