The scientific element of the projects consists of analyzing geodetic plate motion, plate boundary deformation, glacial isostatic adjustment, and solid Earth’s elastic response to mass change. JPL provides an excellent opportunity for researchers to investigate Earth science phenomena using a range of NASA missions. The postdoc will work among scientists and technologist in JPL’s Satellite Tracking and Application Section, in particular our GPS positioning team.
JPL’s Satellite Tracking and Applications section seeks a postdoc for a two-year appointment. The postdoc will create software to predict the future position of a geodetic site using two techniques:
1. Predict future position using geodetic measurements of position to present and
2. Predict future position using entirely a geophysical model.
3. Contribute toward creating a global model of plate motion and global strain on the basis of observations at thousands of GPS sites.
4. The postdoc will also contribute toward analyzing and evaluating mass change estimated using GPS positioning, GRACE gravity, and hydrological measurements.
Required Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Geophysics, Geodesy, or Earth science

The appointee will carry out research in collaboration with the JPL advisor, resulting in publications in the open literature.
