The Data Management Division is hiring a Full-Stack Senior Software Engineer to help advance our state-of-the-art, astronomical data archive, the Mikulski Archive for Space Telescopes (MAST). MAST is the public data archive for more than 20 missions spanning more than 30 years, including HST, JWST, Roman, GALEX, PanSTARRS, Kepler, K2, and TESS. This is full-stack software engineer position: the majority of your workload will be in designing, developing, maintaining, and deploying web-based applications.
Responsibilities include:
·Designing, developing, and maintaining cutting-edge software and search interfaces that enable the public to access and discover data from MAST missions
·Collaborating with and providing technical guidance to other engineers and astronomers in MAST and at STScI
·Developing and contributing to technical roadmaps for migrating existing applications and services to new solutions
·Decomposing high-level requirements into actionable, concise tasks required for implementation through the SDLC phases into a production environment
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s in Computer Science, or a related field. A minimum expertise level of 8+ years working as a full-stack software engineer is expected.
Salary range is $115k – $150k. Title and Compensation are commensurate with education and experience.
