Maxar is currently seeking a Software Engineer to join our Kestrel team. This role can be performed remotely within the continental United States.
As a Maxar Kestrel team member, you will have the opportunity to closely support our mission partners, and your work will have a direct impact on maintaining air and maritime domain awareness to combat illicit activities in and around the United States. In this role, you’ll work closely with other software engineers along with data scientists leveraging open-source tools and libraries to create and maintain a high-throughput, low latency data science pipeline.

We are a multi-faceted software development and data science team working to build and maintain a heuristic based analytical capability, along with other supporting software applications, in support of the Department of Homeland Security’s Science & Technology organization.
Our diverse background of experience in mission support along with research and development serves as a catalyst to solve unique and challenging intelligence problems in support of detection officers and their on-going activities.
Prototyping and frequent, iterative feedback are core to our delivery approach, anchored by a need to ensure accuracy and timeliness in support of our customer’s mission.

What You’ll Be Doing:
Contributing to the continued research and development of an existing analytics pipeline tasked with identifying suspicious activity in the air and maritime domains, creating and/or refining software applications in support of data scientists and mission partners, creation and/or refinement of analytical models, and maintenance and enhancement of existing custom applications specifically built to support our mission partners.

In support of pay transparency at Maxar, we disclose salary ranges on all U.S. job postings. The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.
● The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $98,000.00 – $164,000.00 annually.
● The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $108,000.00 – $180,000.00 annually.
● The base pay for this position within California is: $113,000.00 – $189,000.00 annually.
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
