The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.
The National Geospatial Programs (NGP) GEOINT Integration Ground Architecture and Acquisitions (GIGAA) team leads Aerospace efforts in a program office that is modernizing the GEOINT Ground enterprise. By joining this team as the Aerospace Systems and Capability Integrator (Project Engineer/Sr. Project Engineer-Systems Engineering), you are putting yourself in a position to directly influence both NRO and NGA ground architectures and to be part of innovating resilient solutions that trade desires against acquisition, political, and war-fighting realities.
Work Model
This full time position will require 100% on-site support at least 3-4 days per week in Chantilly, VA and 1-2 days per week at the customer’s site in Springfield, VA.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading and assisting with the acquisition, refactoring, and integration of geospatial intelligence ground systems, to include introduction of capabilities to support new use cases.
- Leading internal working groups that enable successful end-to-end integration of technical capabilities and environments across multiple domains, agencies, and phenomenologies.
- Working closely with the Government to define project scope and technical deliverables.
- Identifying skillsets and expertise needed to accomplish technical Government requests.
- Building partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist with providing clear and sufficient direction to software development teams to minimize project delays.
- Working across the Intelligence Community (IC), Department of Defense, (DoD) and multiple agencies to enable integration of GEOINT data and capabilities.
- Assisting and advising the Government on geospatial intelligence budget planning and programming.
- Providing independent and objective analysis on ground systems architectures, geospatial intelligence actions, documents, strategies, plans, and issues.
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for the Project Engineer-Systems Engineering:
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable STEM areas.
- Eight years of experience in progressively more responsible engineering roles
- Experience in systems engineering and systems integration.
- Ability to fine tune customer technical needs into an accomplishable plan of action.
- Familiar with GEOINT Ground architectures.
- Strong knowledge of the tech stacks and capabilities (COTS and GOTS) that provide TCPED for the GEOINT enterprise.
- Knowledge of cloud architectures.
- Willing to travel domestically approx. 10%.
- This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
In addition to the above, the minimum Requirements for the Senior Project Engineer-System Engineering:
- At least 12 years of increasingly responsible systems engineering and integration experience.
- Ability to lead multi-segmented, disbursed and multidisciplinary teams to accomplish a common objective.
- Experience translating technical details to multidisciplinary teams.
- Extensive knowledge of GEOINT Ground architectures.
- Experience providing and leading analysis of GEOINT TCPED tech stacks.
