The Astra Spacecraft Engine (ASE) Systems Engineering team is responsible for engineering development and support throughout the complete product life cycle of our ASE Hall Effect Thruster electric propulsion systems. Come join our collaborative technically diverse team as we advance the technology and scale our capabilities to rapidly deliver and put robust electric propulsion systems on orbit.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer to accelerate the engineering development, qualification, production, and delivery of our Astra Spacecraft Engine (ASE) product line. You will work closely with agile cross-functional teams across the company to ensure that all aspects of the design are well-defined, integrated, tested, and validated to meet internal and customer requirements. You will have the opportunity to grow within a fast-paced dynamic team environment, as you draw upon your technical expertise and engineering fundamentals – to problem solve as our systems move through integration, test, production, and on-orbit commissioning. There will be opportunities to interface with external customers, as well as diversify or deepen your technical skill set as desired.
How You’ll Fulfill Your Mission:
Learn and apply systems engineering approaches and engineering rigor to the development, test, delivery, and deployment of ASE systems
Develop, maintain, and update system performance and design requirements
Define and support Qualification and Product Acceptance testing
Support transition to Manufacturing and Production troubleshooting
Provide engineering support for deployed on-orbit systems
Collaborate and interface broadly across Engineering and Operations teams, including with mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and quality engineering counterparts
Why We Value You:
Minimum of a B.S. degree in aerospace, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or another related technical field
Experience and demonstrated success in professional engineering industry or engineering research/R&D role
Desired Multipliers
M.S. or Ph.D. in engineering or another related technical field
Experience with spacecraft electric propulsion systems
Experience with aerospace (or similar industry) qualification and acceptance testing programs
Domain knowledge of systems engineering, integration & test
Experience with systems engineering software tools (e.g., JAMA, DOORS)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
